School Bulletin

Dear Prestwood Families,
Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a great winter break,
and had a chance to spend some time together as a family. I am sure
that many of you have made New Year’s resolutions. They might be
about turning homework, getting to school on time, or going to bed
early. Many adults also make the resolution to either lose the holiday
pounds or to work on fitness. Children learn from the example
that parents provide: If you
read, regularly, they’ll read; if you eatfood that is good for you, they ‘ll eat
healthy food; and if you makeexercise
a regular part of your life, they will too. Why not make aresolution to plan healthy, delicious meals together and to get your children involved in cooking them.
Aside from the health benefits, cooking is a wonderful way to practice mathematical skills. We can even
share your favorite recipes in the bulletin, or put them on our website, prestwoodschool.org. Please feel
free to e-mail me your cooking creations.
During the next 2 weeks, students will be taking the district
benchmark tests in the area of language arts. These tests are curriculum based, and measure what your child has learned so far.Teachers will get together
and plan grade level cycle of inquiries using the results.
I had a great time wearing my pajamas last week, and loved the blue and gold hair. I was so happy to be
able to keep my promise to all of you for the final donation push.We are so lucky to have such a generous
community.
I’ll be looking forward to the recipes.
Warmly,
Ms. Beth Langlamet
